The first EVER Friday Night Lights at our new home turf was a sight to see! Ladue hadn’t had a true home game in about 4 years! The buzz of excitement all throughout the school week was so cool. There was a spirit week where people would dress up all out and the pep assembly hyped everyone up for the big game! Ladue was playing Webster, and nobody was ready to let them win. From what I heard, Webster students weren’t even planning on going. They knew Ladue would win and knew how crowded it would be. Unfortunately though, Ladue didn’t know how crowded it would be. When I walked into the stadium after purchasing my ticket, I was completely overwhelmed looking into the sea of black. I had arrived an hour before and it was already this crowded! As I made my way through the crowd to go find my friends in the stands. I was carrying a camera to document this exciting game, so I couldn’t stay long; but when I got up to the top of the bleachers where the sophomores stand, my breath was taken away. The view was amazing! I couldn’t believe that the stadium I had watched being built for a year now was finally done and I was standing in it for the first time. The sun was starting to go down and the sky started turning pink. This sunset was probably in the top 10 of prettiest sunsets I had ever seen. Once I said my greetings to my friends, I went down with my classmates, Maria and May, to start filming the game. I decided to do a News Package story about the First Friday Night Lights football game for my main project this month. With all the excitement about it I thought it would make an interesting video. Filming parts of this game and the student section cheering was probably my favorite part of the night. (Along with our 43-7 win of course.) It was insane how many people showed up wearing all black and the crowd’s involvement was so cool. I will link the finished video in my next blog post which will also explain more about my project, so stay tuned for both of those! Also enjoy some of these sunset pictures I included down below, too pretty not to include in this! :)
