In class the past couple days we have been learning how to edit with Final Cut Pro. I knew what it was because a lot of Youtubers I watch use this to edit their videos. What I didn't know though was how easy it was to use! We played around with text, filters, sound, and much more. Sometimes I=my computer took awhile to load which was a bit challenging, but my classmates were able to help catch me up so I didn't miss a thing. In just a short amount of time I learned how to use an entirely new program and I'm really excited to continue learning more about it as the year goes on! During class last week, my class watched a video about how to be a successful video maker/ producer. I learned a lot throughout the forty five minute video, but I learned five main things I believe are the most important for making videos. The first thing I learned about was B-Roll. It is footage of whatever you're covering, whether for soundbites or the footage. I have always noticed it, just never known it was called B-Roll. That was my biggest discovery I made during the video. Another thing I learned were the wide, medium, and tight shots. This is called a shot sequence. We learned these in class already, but the video helped me to understand more of the major differences between each angle. The third thing I learned that is important is that you should always use a microphone and headphones with your camera. It is super important for audio because you have to be able to hear your video clearly. Another big part of filming is the use of a tripod. The camera shots have to be still, so it's really important to always be using a tripod. Last, but not least, I learned about Rule of Thirds. I took photography last semester, so I have learned what it is, but I was really surprised that it wasn't just a rule for photography. It is a really basic method for getting the right shots, and once you master this you can find many creative ways to break these rule, which sounds really fun. I enjoyed watching this video and learned so much from it!
